Braemar & Open

Braemar Stone 
Women throwers use a stone that weighs usually between 11 and 13 pounds. This is the heavier of the two stone events and must be made from a standing position for three attempted throws. The throwing area is a box 4'­6" wide and 7'­6" long. The thrower must keep one foot inside the throwing area and not step over the back line or across the trig into the field.

Open Stone

Women throwers use a lighter stone for the open throw that weighs between 8 and 9 pounds. Throwers are allowed to make an open approach to the trig of any style for three attempts as long as the same boundaries are maintained as listed above.
